For me the country is people. No matter how wonderful the travel is, it wouldn't make any sense if you didn't make friends there. I did. Before my coming to America, I've met absolutely charming people and made friends with them. I have friends in the place where I am going. I am so looking forward to seeing them again that I can't keep thinking of it.
Let me write short descriptions of some of them.
A year ago, I met John who is currently helping me with accommodation and work in Dallas. He is a phyciatrist and he has an extremely funny personality. Being able to combine humour and serious matters, he is a perfect teacher of Advanced Seminars. John is wise, friendly and caring. He is always ready to help no matter how difficult it can be for him.
In the autumn, I met Judy who I have been e-mailing with since then. She is about 70 but have nothing in common with retired people in Russia. She is a good company and a reliable friend. She is open-hearted and ready to listen to you if you have something to say.
Michael has fascinated me since the minute I saw him. He is an amazing person. About 50, he is a good-looking and well-dressed project manager in AT&T. He has never been in Russia before but during his first coming he managed to make friends with lots of students. Everybody is under his neverending charm and humour. Besides, he promised to have dinner with me when I come to Dallas. How can I want more that I have? :)
Maxine is very much the same as Judy, they are about the same age. She is a nice person and a loving grandmother, I am sure.
I've met some other special people from the USA, but I didn't spend with them as much time as I did with people mentioned above. I do hope this list will expand greatly after my coming back.
If it weren't for these people, I wouldn't probably go to the USA.
Thank you, my precious friends! You make my life brighter and happier!
